Vintage Lamps + Bold Vintage Fabric Shades

If you're a thrifter like me, then you most likely have a stash of vintage lamp bases (sans shades) and you have no idea what you're going to do with them. The original shades rarely survive the test of time, so we're left desperately trying to find a shade to compliment the vintage base. This is an un-ending search, I accept that now.
A plain white drum shade just isn't going to cut it. It's got to be something interesting. So why not go all the way?
I just luuuv the idea of using some bold vintage fabric and covering a plain modern drum shade. The brighter and quirkier the combination, the better.

I've been cleaning house preparing for our move and have uncovered at least 3 vintage lamp bases awaiting shades so far. So I searched around and found this tutorial for covering shades that looks very do-able. If you are feeling extra ambitious you could even make a shade.  I just happen to have a stash of fabric that will suit the bases perfectly. And to think I've had these perfect matches under my roof all this time and never thought of pairing them up until now. Change brings about creativity I suppose.

If DIY ain't your thang, the folks responsible for some of these beauties above can do it for you.

Most of these are Australia or UK based. I wasn't able to find anyone doing these style of shades here in the US, but if you know of any please let me know in the comments, I'd love to check them out.
