Two of my favorite subjects are always the colorful Shotgun Houses and the Overgrown, Tropical Gardens. In the French Quarter the gardens are all the more mysterious as you can only catch a mere glimpse of them through gates or between buildings. I could walk the Quarter for hours peeking down alleys and through fences to get a shot of shimmering pools and fountains set in bricks and cobblestones surrounded by lush Southern foliage...

Painted Ladies
And an extra shot of color and Big Fun
As usual, these pictures belong to me cuz I took em'. If you want to use them please Credit The Source Y'all!

Gorgeous photos... reminds me of Canada...same bright colors...but then the Acadians came to NOLA & that area from Nova Scotia...you can see the influence...Love that fountain... always love the wrought iron too...:)
ReplyDeleteWow, I had never thought of that connection between the houses in Nova Scotia! I was born in Halifax too!
ReplyDeleteCharming ladies, and beautifully shot!;) You know, their style seems to me very similar to the Russian houses. We are currently living in Russia, 30 min drive from Moscow, so I will try to make some photos of some old wooden houses and villas :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Zara, I would love to see them and show them on my blog! I so love old architecture from around the world!
ReplyDeleteHi, Andrea! I have uploaded some photos where you may see a few Russian village houses. I took them 2 years ago, and that's all I have by the moment... When I get my new camera I think to shoot more of them.
