Snippets From My NOLA Neighbourhood

My Mamma was in town for the weekend to meet with a dear friend that was visiting from Canada. We spent a lot of time out and about "touring" the city. Walking slowly along ... taking in the amazing weather and the bewitching beauty of the city of New Orleans. There is so much to look at; so much beauty, that you must walk at a snails pace to not miss any of the details. The winding vines climbing up chipped pink painted stucco walls. Artful statues hidden among wild tropical foliage. The ironwork and fixtures of the old homes. A world famous street artist's work suddenly there in front of you on a crumbling wall...
I take pictures when I can, but more often than not I realize it is more important to experience things not through the lens of my camera but straight on. That way I can stop and just enjoy the moment, absorb life and commit it to my memory undistracted by the need to "record" it. Here are some of the homes and the lovely details of my weekend...

  1. What beautiful houses with their lacy carvings and verandas!! The flower market is amazing!
I am like you, always trying to find a balance between enjoying the surroundings in real and experiencing it through the lens... :)

    1. The lacy carvings are my favorite! I dream of the day we can settle and buy one of our own and I can paint it any color I want! Yes the balance of "experience through the lens" is a precarious one...
